The Legacy for a Running Toddler

If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a mother, it’s that toddlers never slow down—not even with a running nose. While I chase after my little one, wiping his face for what feels like the hundredth time, I realize something. He’s always watching me. Mimicking me. Picking up not just my words, but my habits, my reactions, my way of looking at the world. And that’s when it hits me—if I want to see change in the next generation, I have to start with myself. Beauty Beyond Appearances There was a time when I believed beauty meant perfect hair, flawless skin, and unmarked bodies. Society made sure I believed that. I want my son to grow up knowing that scars—visible or not—don’t make us weak. They make us whole. That real beauty is in kindness, in resilience, in the stories we carry. I want him to see that the strongest people are not those...

A Teacher’s Lesson on Water and Its Worth

This month’s ECM bloghop is on theme in line with World Water Day. It reminded me of one of the project that I had done with my students of primary and secondary school. When I was teaching in France in 2021-2022, a chapter on water conservation led to a lesson far beyond textbooks. Coming from India, where water scarcity is a harsh reality for many, I wanted my students to truly understand what it meant to have access to clean water—and what it meant to live without it. I started with a simple question: How much water do you think you use every day? The answers were vague—“A little?” “Maybe a few bottles?” They had never really thought about it. So, together, we made a list of everyday activities and researched the average water consumption for each (a combination of textbook and internet research): • 🪥Brushing teeth with the tap running – 5-10 liters • 🚽Flushing the toilet – 4-9 liters per flush • 🚿Taking a shower – 50-100 liters • 🛀Bathing in a tub – 150-200 liter...

A Trip Down Memory Lane: The Magic of 90s Birthday Parties

Image
This week’s prompt is special since it is the Birthday week of Blogchatter. That got me to ponder over the various birthday parties growing up. Being a child in the ’90s, there was something special about birthdays as a child. No elaborate event planners, no themed restaurant bookings—just a house filled with colorful balloons, the smell of freshly baked cake, and a room full of excited kids wearing pointed party hats. Back then, birthdays weren’t about picture-perfect Instagram moments. They were about unfiltered joy, homemade decorations, and simple yet unforgettable fun. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade those childhood birthdays for anything in the world. The Invitations – Handwritten, Glittery, and Full of Love Before the days of WhatsApp invites, birthday invitations were handmade treasures. Either we scribbled them on bright-colored paper with glitter pens or bought those pre-printed cards with cartoon characters on them. The best part? Hand-delivering them to friends at s...
