E – Esha, The Exaggerator: Blogchatter A2Z

Esha cannot tell a simple story. Everything she says sounds like it belongs in a thriller novel.

If she saw a cockroach, it was “HUGE, practically a mutant, and it FLEW straight at her.”

If she got stuck in traffic, it was “the worst jam in history—cars weren’t moving for HOURS.”

If she got a slight fever, she was “burning up like a furnace, basically on her deathbed.”

By the time she finishes talking, you don’t know whether to be shocked, impressed, or just exhausted.

One evening, a group of us was chatting when Esha dramatically leaned in and whispered:

Esha (lowering her voice): “Guys… I was ALMOST KIDNAPPED last night.”

We immediately stopped talking.

Me: “Wait, WHAT? What happened?!”

Esha: (looking around suspiciously) “I was walking home, and this car pulled up NEXT TO ME. And it STOPPED.”

We all gasped.

Friend: “Oh my god. Did someone get out? Did they try to grab you?!”

Esha (dead serious): “No… but they ROLLED DOWN THEIR WINDOW.”

…Okay?

Me: “And…?”

Esha (eyes wide): “And then… they DROVE AWAY.”

…That’s it?

Friend: “Wait. So… no one said anything? No one tried to grab you?”

Esha: (nodding dramatically) “No. But the way they slowed down? It was SUSPICIOUS.”

We all stared at her as she sat there, waiting for us to react to her near-abduction experience.

Me: “Esha… I think they were just looking for parking.”

Esha (gasping): “Or WERE THEY?!”

Another Classic Esha Moment – The Cockroach War

One day, Esha came running into a café, out of breath, looking traumatized.

Esha (panting): “GUYS. I just had a near-death experience.”

Me: “What happened?!”

Esha (shuddering): “There was a COCKROACH. In my HOUSE.”

Friend: “Okay, and?”

Esha (whispering): “It FLEW. STRAIGHT AT MY FACE.”

I nodded, concerned. Until her younger brother (who had witnessed the event) casually added:

Brother: “Uh… it was on the wall, and she just ran away screaming.”

Esha (dead serious): “I felt it in the air.”

The Exaggerator teaches us that some people just love making everything sound bigger, crazier, and scarier than it really was. It’s not about lying—it’s about making their life feel like an action movie.

We all know an Esha—the one who turns everyday situations into dramatic, almost-unbelievable stories. While they might be exhausting, they do make life more entertaining.

Do you have an Esha in your life? Or—be honest—are YOU the Esha of your group?
